With the advent of the numeric era, users have to face bigger and bigger data corpus. This problematic consitute one of the most challenging issue of information design. How to allow human being to understand and navigate through these databases of non-human size? This is the kind of questions in which both designers and researchers are interested.
Client Franck Ghitalla is a researcher, former teacher in the design departement of Compiègne University and now head of the research team at INIST.

Pol-e-design user interface find inspiration in the mendeleiv Periodic Table of the Elements. By combining zooming and a precise categorisation, the system allows to reduce visual complexity and to reach any URL of the database in less than 3 clicks. I have done the concept, graphics and project documentation. Project done in 2007, with Celine LeMarc, interaction designer.
